How do you construct a new crossword?
The first step would be either uploading a file or building a crossword online. If your crossword is in a PUZ (Across Lite), XPF or Crossword Compiler's XML files, then simply select the type and grid of the crossword and upload the file.
If you'd like to build the crossword from scratch, then enter the crossword title and define its size (rows and columns). You will then be presented with an empty grid. Fill in the letters and skip the black squares. You can double click on a square to make it black.
Once the grid is saved, enter the clues in the form. Clues numbers are assigned automatically. The answer length is also presented in the form. If your answer is made of more than one word, you can edit the length field. For example, replace "7" with "3,4".

The crossword page displays the grid on the right and the clues on the left. You can select to see just the clues across or just the clues down. You can also see clues beneath the grid when you click anywhere inside the grid.
Write your answers inside the grid. The cursor automatically jumps to the next letter once you enter one letter. The direction is set by the buttons above the grid. You can select to move across or down. You can also move from one letter to the next using the TAB key and Shift+TAB to go back.
If you're not sure about your answers, use the pencil tool above the grid.
You can use the icons next to the clues to reveal solutions. You need to be a registered user to use these. The ? icon will fill in some of the letters. The ! will fill in all letters. Note that you only have three hints and three solutions per crossword.
